Uljana Wolf & Deborah Poe Monday, January 23, 2012 8:00 pm The poet, translator and editor Uljana Wolf was born in Berlin. Her poems appeared in journals and anthologies worldwide, such as Lyrik von Jetzt (Dumont, 2003), New European Poetry (Graywolf, 2008), Dichten No. 10: 16 New German Poets (Burning Deck, 2008), jubilat, Chicago Review, and Harper’s Magazine. Wolf published two books of poetry, kochanie ich habe brot gekauft (kookbooks 2005) and falsche freunde (kookbooks 2009), as well as the essay “BOX OFFICE” (Lyrikkabinett München, 2009). For her work, Wolf has been awarded several prizes and grants, such as the Peter-Huchel-Preis and the Dresdner Lyrikpreis (both 2006). She translates numerous poets into German, among them Matthea Harvey, Christian Hawkey (author of Ventrakl, UDP 2010), Erín Moure, and Cole Swensen (author of Greensward, UDP 2010), and was the co-editor of the Jahrbuch der Lyrik (Fischer Verlag 2009). English translations of her work have appeared in three chapbooks: My Cadastre, trans. by Nathaniel Otting (Nor By Press 2009); false friends, trans. by Susan Bernofsky (UDP 2011); Aliens: An Island, trans. by Monika Zobel (Belladonna 2011). Deborah Poe is author of the poetry collections Elements (Stockport Flats Press 2011), Our Parenthetical Ontology (CustomWords 2008), and several chapbooks—most recently a four-part edition entitled the last will be stone, too as part of the Dusie Kollektiv (5).
