at Ugly Duckling Presse

UDP presents a salon-style show and tell and Q&A with artists/book-workers/publishers Aaron Cohick, James Hoff, and Emily Larned, at our studio in the Old American Can Factory, Gowanus, Brooklyn. André Breton said, "One publishes to find comrades." These three artists, who work in forms that engage publishing, distribution, availability, the multiple, and the book in the post-material age, will discuss their practices, their desires, and their lineages. AARON COHICK is a book artist, proprietor of NewLights Press, and Printer of The Press at Colorado College. JAMES HOFF is the co-publisher of PrimaryInformation, and the author of several books and multiples, including Everybody's Pixelated (Printed Matter) Wheeling Feels When the Ground Walks Away (PAN), Inventory Arousal (Bedford Press), I'm Already a Has-Been (No Input Books), Copyright the Typos (Kelley Writers House), as well as the chapbook Ten More Poems (UDP). EMILY LARNED is an artist and printer. She is the co-founder of Impractical Labor in Service of the Speculative Arts (ILSSA), former president of Booklyn, publisher of Red Charming and many zines, and Chair of Graphic Design at SASD, University of Bridgeport. FREE. Doors open 7pm. Conversation commences at 7:30pm. Refreshments will be served, but feel free to bring a bottle along. Some books will be on sale. RSVP on Facebook here.
