A wonderful poetry reading featuring Mary Austin Speaker & Chris Martin from Minneapolis and Oakland's own Lauren Levin. The event starts at 7pm and is FREE. Facebook page HERE Mary Austin Speaker is a poet and book designer. She is the author of Ceremony, winner of the 2012 Slope Editions book prize; four chapbooks, including The Bridge (Push Press 2011) and 20 Love Poems for 10 Months (Ugly Duckling Presse 2012); and a collaborative play, written with her husband, poet Chris Martin. She co-founded the Triptych poetry reading series in New York City, and has taught at Indiana University, Kirkwood Community College, and the Jackson Hole Writers Conference. New poems can be found in Spoke Too Soon, Matter Monthly, Prelude, and elsewhere, and her critical work can be found in Pleiades and Painted Bride Quarterly. She lives in Minneapolis. Lauren Levin has a new chapbook, The Lens (Little Red Leaves Textile Series) and also wrote Working (Portable Press at Yo-Yo Labs), Song (The Physiocrats) and Not Time (Boxwood Editions). Her poems have recently appeared in The Boog City Reader, Dreamboat, and The Brooklyn Rail. Chris Martin is the author of Becoming Weather (Coffee House Press, 2011) and American Music (Copper Canyon Press, 2007). A new chapbook, HISTORY, just dropped from Coffee House, who will also publish his third collection, The Falling Down Dance, in November of this year. Recent work can be found now or soon in The Cultural Society, Fence, Paperbag, SPOKE TOO SOON, and The Brooklyn Rail. He is an editor at Futurepoem books and lives in Minneapolis with his wife, the poet Mary Austin Speaker, and their son Atticus.
