artist books

Historically, UDP's Artist Books are hand-made editions which employ a variety of techniques of reproduction, including letterpress, photocopy, intaglio printing, and old-fashioned hand binding; publications of this category are not limited, of course, to this description. Our Artist Books have been placed in many prestigious collections, including: MOMA (NYC), New York Public Library, National Print Museum (Dublin), Cleveland Art Institute, University of Austin, Wellesley University, Brown University, University of Delaware, Avant Collection at Ohio State University (Columbus), Dickson Art Center (UCLA), Jan van der Donk Rare Books (NYC), and Printed Matter (NYC).

Recent titles include The States by Craig Foltz with dozens of contributing photographers from around the country; Stack by Edwin Frank; and After You, Dearest Language by Marisol Limon Martinez.

UDP also supports the publication and distribution of collaborations between writers and artists, which we catalog on our orders page along with the artist books under the flexible rubric books w/ art. This is a new but rapidly expanding section of our catalog.
